New Kitty Cat Friends
Over the weekend I pet sat in Sebastopol for 4 new kitties. I forgot to take my camera with me to get their pictures. As all cat owners know, each kitty has their own personality. Some kitties are friendlier than others, and each kitty has what I call "quirks". The more I know about each baby I watch, the better care I can give. This time I visited Leo, Carlos, Hortus, and Nubie. Since I was a new person in their home, I was told I might not see a couple of the kitties. True to form, I never did see one kitty, but I knew he was around. One of his owners had told me that he liked to open all the closet and cabinet doors. Each day when I would go into the house, there were always doors open. I would close them, and the next day, they would be open again. I had to close the doors so Carlos could have his fun of reopening them. He would hide out of sight when I came through the door, but seeing all of the cabinet doors open let me know he wasn't far away. Then, I got greeted every morning by Leo. He loved to follow me everywhere and wanted lots of attention and playtime. His favorite things to play with are boxes. He crouches down in them and rubs his face along the edges. Who needs expensive toys when you have a box to play in? Hortus follows his daddy everywhere, but he doesn't play with the other kitties. He has a room of his own. He was very upset that his daddy had left him, but I won him over. He let me pet him without trying to scratch me at all. I have a touch that kitties can't resist. I respect their space and their emotions. I offer my hand, but I don't touch them unless they come to me. I was so pleased that Hortus trusted me enough to come to me and let me pet him on his terms. Nubie chose to watch me from afar, but I talked to him just the same so that he knew I cared about him and respected his feelings. I know as I pet sit more often, I will eventually win over everyone. I love to be able to give everyone all the pets they need. This weekend was a good beginning. I hope to get everyone's pictures next time I visit.
